Masjid Jumaa Opening COVID-19 Guidelines update 1/22/2021

Asalam walakoom Dear respected Brothers and sisters,

Back in November 2020 the emergency committee had to make a tough decision to close down the Masjid for the second time in the year 2020. May Allah (SWT) cure the sick and take away the pain that they are going through. May Allah (SWT) reward and grant the highest level of Jannah for the Brothers and Sisters who have passed.
We will be opening starting this coming Friday, the 22nd of 2021 for Jum'maa ONLY. There will be two prayers 1:00 PM and 2:15 pm. We will have the same procedures as before. No one under the age of 16. You must arrive with a face mask, bring your own prayer rug, come with wudu and must be registered with a QR code for entry. You can visit www.myisw.org to register. Entery will be allowed 15 min prior to the beginning of the khutba. Doors will open at 12:45 Pm for the 1st prayer and 2:00 pm for the 2nd. The additional time given is for us to  adequately sanitize the building between prayers.
May Allah (SWT) make it easy for us all. It takes efforts from all the boards, as well as the community. As a community we must respect one another and take precautions when it comes to covid 19. If you are feeling ill, show signs of covid 19 related symptoms, are currently positive with the virus, or are around anyone positive, Please refrain from attending the Masjid. Please self quarantine from the Masjid for the recommended days given by the CDC. Please help spread the word and share this message with everyone that you know, and help translate to anyone that is need of it.
Jazakum Allahu kharin

Masjid Closing due to COVID-19 update 11/18/2020

Asalamu Alikum,

Sedgwick County continues to report record breaking numbers of COVID cases where 1 in 5 tests are positive. We have also continued to hear of some possible cases and exposure in our community over the last week or so. The Emergency committee and BOA have concluded to extend the closure of the Masjid till January 2021. We will keep you posted Insha Allah.

It has been a very difficult year for many. As a community it is our responsibility to take care of the house of Allah, and to help the people who seek our assistant. As Muslims, this is the perfect opportunity for us to invest in our Aakhira. Whether it maybe towards the Masjid (Utilities, facility’s maintenance, etc.) or towards the many in need from our community or outside.

If Allah has blessed you to not be affected, keep in mind of those who are in need and maintenance of the Masjid. There are many ways to show your support listed below, you can donate to ISW by the following payment options:

Special Gneral Body Meeting Request

Dear ISW members and Al-salaamu alaykum,

This is the final notification regarding the Special General Body Meeting (GBM) that was requested by some ISW members.

  • On June 28th, 2020, ISW announced that any General Body Meeting (GBM) will be posted via official ISW channels of communications.
  • On July 12th, 2020, ISW’s membership committee published the process to be used to call for a Special GBM and the Purpose of the Special GBM.
  • On July 18th, 2020, ISW’s membership committee issued a reminder that July 24, 2020 5:00PM CST was the submittal due date for the special GBM petition.

The total number of petitions received by the membership committee is less than 1% of the total eligible ISW voting members. The 20% threshold required to move forward with the special GBM was not met and therefore, no special GBM (for the identified purpose) will be scheduled.

The membership committee wants to thank everyone that has participated.

May Allah bless us all with peace, health, happiness, patience, strength and highest rank in Jannah. Wishing you and your family Eid Mubarak!

Respectfully,

Membership Committee

ISW and Black Lives Matter

Assalamu Alikum;

The Islamic Society of Wichita stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. We can not witness racism, discrimination and violence without calling our community to stand with the oppressed in support of true justice and condemn police brutality. We unconditionally believe that Black Lives Matter.

May Allah swt grant justice to the oppressed and grant relief to those who have suffered and currently suffer.

"Oh believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is aganist yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate from justice. If you distort testimony or refuse to give it, then know that Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do." Quran 4:135.

ISW COVID-19 Update 03-16-2020

Assalamulaikum,

The ISW emergency committee regrets to inform you the masjid will be closed until further notice. To help slow and eventually stop the spread of COVID-19, no daily prayer services, Friday khutbahs, or committee programming will be held. The governor has declared Kansas under state of emergency; as well as the local Center for Disease Control announced no gatherings larger than 50 are allowed.

This includes jummah prayers, the ISW annual bazaar, and all future programming until further notice. The emergency committee will continue to monitor the situation and update you as soon as possible. ISW employees are not allowed to open doors for members or the public; please respect the restrictions set by this emergency committee.

We appreciate your understanding and support! May Allah swt grant all trust of Him and bless us with physical, mental, and spiritual wellness, Ameen.

Please help us protect your health and the health of our community, inshallah.

*We will update you with any changes via email and Facebook.

**Annoor Islamic School is monitoring the situation as well; and will provide an update soon.
